Practice Conversation

Situation: Two friends discuss another friend's problem.

A: Did you see Tom today?

B: Yes. Why do you ask?

A: Did he look upset to you?

B: As a matter of fact, he did.

A: Well, he got a terrible grade on his last test.

B: If you ask me, he deserved it.

A: Really? Why do you say that?

B: He hasn't been to class in a month.

A: Really? It seems to me that he should have expected that then.

B: I think so too. But he is very unhappy.

A: In my opinion, he should spend more time studying.

B: I know what you mean. I study a lot and still my grades aren't that good.

A: Do you think we should talk to him about it?

B: The way I see it, he probably needs his friends right now.

A: I think you're right. Let's go talk to him now.

B: Okay. Let's go.
